What's Artifact you ask? Well, at its simplest level it's a modification for plain vanilla deathmatch in First Person Shooter games. It started with Quake. Quake had a mod called Capture The Flag. This mod, as a side point totally unrelated to the fact you're supposed to be trying to capture the flag of the other team in this mod, had four "runes" in it. They were objects that sat around the level in random spots, waiting to grant a special power to the player lucky enough to find them. Strength, Haste, Resistance, and Regeneration were the original four. I (Singe) got to wondering what other runes might be like, and how fun would a deathmatch be with a much wider variety of 'em. Thus, Artifact Quake was born. I made it (with design help from Griphis of course). It's was plain deathmatch, but with about 37 unique types of artifacts (a name I find more appropriate than "runes", but I'm just weird). Two years passed, then Griphis and I got together to make Artifact Quake 2 (This time with a great deal of work and effort on both our parts. I'm aware there's a Q3A variant of this mod that somebody made, though I had no part in design or execution. I'm not certain I'll be making this mod for other platforms, but I hope that there's still people out there with an interest in playing these oldschool mods.
Anyway, this page is a hub for all Artifact-related pages done. There's also news and a huge download section. Enjoy!

Artifact News...
8.25.2001
I'm pretty burned out on the whole Artifact thing right now, so I'm simply putting up the final AQ2 release I plan to do as well as its source code. I wasn't able to get the bugs out, I don't have a person to finish the models, it's been about a year since I felt the project was worthwhile, so I'm just gonna move on. If anybody wishes to see what they can do with the AQ2 source, go ahead! Just credit me with the original source where everyone can see it. :)
